Did this winter seem like the longest ever? Have you put off your fitness goals due to the snow and ice covering our driveways, sidewalks and running paths? Was it even difficult to leave the house some days? If you answered yes to these questions, you probably are not alone. Through April 16, 2018 was the snowiest start to a calendar year on record in Minnesota at 71.1 inches! Enough is enough and it’s time to get back on track.
RUN FOR THE HEALTH OF IT!
On June 2, employees, families, residents and neighbors come together at Lake Harriet in south Minneapolis to move, groove and shake out the cobwebs from the long winter. The 13th Walker Methodist Annual Run & Walk raises funds for programs that directly enhance the lives of older adults living in our communities.
This includes the nationally acclaimed Music and Memory℠ program, integrative therapies and fitness and wellness programs.
Five of our housing communities have on-site fitness centers available for residents and surrounding community members to help remain healthy and strong. A host of fitness classes, individualized training sessions and state-of-the-art fitness equipment is available to meet a wide variety of individual needs. With nearly 450 fitness center members, our residents and community members clearly see the value in health and wellness programming.
Here's what OUR RESIDENTS are saying
“I am in better health now than I was when I moved in over ten years ago.”
“Nick (the fitness technician) has helped me feel the best I have ever felt.”
“I can’t miss a day of exercise!”
strong is ageless
Exercise can include completing a few strengthening exercises, working out on a stationary bike, taking a daily walk or participating in the Walker Methodist 5k/10k. Whatever fits their ability and interests – we encourage our residents to embrace a lifestyle of health and wellness.
If you’re interested in participating in our annual 5k/10k event, register today and you will receive a free pair of performance socks.
We hope to see you there!
