Celebrating birthdays during COVID-19

Even during a pandemic, there are still reasons to celebrate, including birthdays! Our communities are celebrating residents’ birthdays in many different ways, and we wanted to share some of our favorite festivities with you…

Residents at Havenwood of Burnsville get a fun birthday treat on their special day. Team members deliver a balloon and candy to their door. Chefs also make their favorite dessert to enjoy. And, as with any good birthday celebration, team members sing to the resident!

For Lois’ 93rd birthday, her family came to celebrate at Walker Methodist Westwood Ridge. They showed up with colorful signs and smiles. At the same time, another resident played the piano and team members sang. When Don, another resident at Westwood Ridge, turned 90, his family did the same thing! For Rose Mary’s 85th birthday, her family sang to her, and team members delivered cookies from the culinary team.

Dr. Bevis received a special surprise for his 95th birthday! Rain didn’t stop his daughters from visiting him at Walker Methodist Place, singing to their dad while he waved from his balcony.

At Walker Methodist Highview Hills, team members thought of a creative way to wish residents happy birthday: virtual calls and handmade signs.

Ted

For Ted’s 99th birthday, Walker Methodist Health Center’s in-house baker Melissa made him a cake. Ted talked to his grandson, Stephen, who visited outside and enjoyed his cake. (Everyone involved was very happy!)
