6 Ways Spring is More Fun at a Senior Living Community

Spring is here! When the sun shines, the temperatures rise, and the flowers start blooming, our communities are more robust than ever. Find out how our Residents are having the time of their lives at our senior living communities

Spring Activities Calendar at Walker Methodist

The communities at Walker Methodist offer peace of mind so Residents can participate in the active social life they enjoy. Life enrichment at a senior living community usually means Residents are more active than they might be living on their own.

The activities calendars our communities provide are full of opportunities for Residents to participate in as much or as little as they choose. The best part? There are endless choices and options tailored to varying needs and desires.

Some of our activities consist of:6 Ways Spring is More Fun at a Senior Living Community.png

Hobby Headquarters

The environment at Walker Methodist encourages involvement in social events and outings, hobbies, and having fun. In fact, our communities are designed with all of this in mind. You don’t have to say goodbye to your favorite spring activities or hobbies. We encourage any and all participation in pastimes at Walker Methodist. Where there’s a will, there’s a way for us to make sure that you are able to enjoy the things you love to do.

Here are some of the interest areas we have here at Walker Methodist to make spring more fun:

1.   Scenic Walking Paths

Explore and marvel in the beauty of nature. See the bumblebees at work, the surrounding community, or watch the birds flitter.

2.   Community Gardens

Get some dirt under your fingernails in a community garden. Pull weeds, pick flowers or produce, and dig for worms.

3.   Terrace Patio with Tables and Chairs

Enjoy a cup of coffee and catch up on conversation. Or even better, have an outdoor picnic!

4.   Ground Level Garden and Walkways

With park benches conveniently located along the pathway, the flowers are begging to be smelled. See how many shapes and colors of flowers you can identify along the way.

5.   Parks within Close Proximity

Find the swings at the park and bring out the inner kid in you. Watch a baseball or softball game and root for the home team. Kick a ball, throw a frisbee, play tennis, or go golfing. Check your local community calendar for events, too.

6.   Group outings

Trips to the farmer’s market, local eateries, attractions, and much more. Take an adventure to somewhere new, you might surprise yourself!

How Does a Senior Living Community Help You Stay Independent?

A senior living community allows older adults the ability to maintain independence. Continuing an active social lifestyle is possible. Throw away the to-do list, ease burdens, and give time to the things that are loved and enjoyed. By staying involved, it helps reduce isolation some feel when living alone.

A positive, engaging atmosphere in an independent community awaits. At Walker Methodist, we encourage older adults and families to embrace independence with senior living. When you’re ready to find the perfect place, contact us.

Jennifer Miller

Written by Jennifer Miller

Jennifer joined Walker Methodist in February 2016, bringing 25 years of sales and marketing experience with her. She was drawn to Walker Methodist because of its non-profit status and the exciting position available. Jennifer is thankful to have the privilege of working with seniors and their families when choosing a new home. She makes sure they are aware of every opportunity available to them through the Walker Methodist family of services. About 5 years ago, Jennifer woke up one morning and decided she wanted to do something different. She wanted to find an industry that made a difference in the lives of others. Combining her passion for older adults and her love of creating long-lasting relations brought Jennifer directly to the senior housing industry, and she hasn’t looked back. Beyond her career, Jennifer is passionate about her amazing family and friends. She has a large network of people she cares about and is thankful to have such a rich life. On days off, Jennifer is often perusing local consignment stores, coffee shops, or malls. Jennifer hopes people remember her as a high energy girl who loves living life to the fullest and who makes every day a great day to be alive.
