Walker Methodist Health Center: How & When it’s Right for You

Chris Turner | Aug 12, 2016

When your loved one is ready for a transition to senior living, there is a lot to consider when it comes to the right community, specialized care plans, amenities, and support. The right choice for your family depends upon many things. Walker Methodist’s Health Center fills a special niche by offering skilled nursing care in two types of settings - transitional care for shorter stays aimed at recovery and getting you back home, and long-term living neighborhoods for those who need a longer, more permanent stay.

It’s Home

The Health Center is all about celebrating life and fostering a culture of respect. Oftentimes, Residents, Patients, and their families have a preconceived notion about what it means to spend time in a transitional care or skilled nursing environment. It’s a sensitivity we’re well versed in at the Health Center, and our team is open, honest, and transparent when it comes to life and experiences within. Stop by anytime for a tour and visit - or call me - I'd love to hear from you! 612-827-8312.

Our Health Center is home for our Residents. Transitional Care is an environment providing short term rehabilitation care to our Patients with a focus on getting you back up and feeling strong - so you can go home. Skilled nursing care is available 24 hours a day at the Health Center. Life changes at the blink of eye, and the needs of our Residents and their families comes ahead of anything else. There’s comfort for families of loved ones to know that should needs change, the Health Center can address any transitional or long-term concerns quickly, and provide the highest of quality health care.

Specialized Programs + Life Enrichment

The Health Center is unique. It offers short term or long term care based upon individual need. If your loved one is recovering from an illness, injury, or surgery, Health Center is the place for rehabilitation and recuperation - let us help them get back home! If the older adult in your life is needing skilled nursing care 24 hours a day, the excellent team providing nursing, social service, culinary, therapeutic recreation, and spiritual life will take comfort in all the Health Center has available.

The comprehensive care available at the Health Center runs the gamut from transitional care to memory care, to Parkinson’s care. Our life enrichment program offers a communal, united feel to the Health Center. A full calendar of events is always available for our Residents and transitional care Patients, and we encourage people to engage and participate if they are comfortable doing so.

When is the Time Right to Consider Health Center?

Every circumstance with transitioning to senior living is different. There is no magic moment of opportunity to consider this step in life for yourself or your loved one. Sometimes, the decision is a reactive one, in the cases of injury or health concerns that impact quality of life. Yet other decisions to transition to assisted living are proactive. While reactive decisions are easily more recognizable, here are some indicators that relate to the proactive decision to consider Walker Methodist Health Center:

  • Your loved one needs a licensed nurse 24 hours a day.
  • Your loved one is preparing for a surgery and needs transitional care.
  • Your loved one had an emergency - and now needs long term or short term transitional/respite care.

When you are ready to talk about long and short term skilled nursing options, please contact me. I'm available to help you and your loved - thank you.
